Android 7.1.1 update seeding for Xperia XZ and X Performance

Sony has begun rolling out Android Nougat version 7.1.1 update for Xperia XZ and X Performance smartphones.

Updating your Xperia phone with the latest firmware will bump the build version of the phone to 41.2.A.2.199. Apart from the change in Nougat and build versions, you should also get a number of native Android 7.1 features that include app shortcuts. It also incorporates Android security patch for April.

The news about the rollout has been shared by Xperiablog. While the standard models of Xperia XZ and X Performance are getting the update, it would not be too long before the Dual SIM variants get the update.

When the Android 7.1.1 update is available for your Xperia phones, you will receive a notification in the status bar. To download and install the update from the notification panel, drag the status bar downwards to open the notification panel. Now scroll down and select the system update and tap download.

Once the download is complete, open the notification panel and tap install and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation. After the installation is finished, you can manually check the latest software version of the handset by going to Settings>> About phone>> Build number.
