Andy Murray marries Kim Sears: All you need to know about the Wimbledon champion's wedding
After eight years of dating, Wimbledon 2013 champion Andy Murray is preparing to say "I do" to long-time partner Kim Sears. Here is all you need to know about the biggest wedding in tennis.
When did he propose?
In January 2014, it appeared the tennis ace had plucked up the courage to pop the question when he told a fan during a Q&A session on Twitter that he would marry the love of his life after Wimbledon. Although it later turned out to be a joke, he did finally get down on one knee with a diamond ring in November that year.
When is it happening?
The couple will tie the knot on 11 April at Dunblane Cathedral, which in his Scottish home town. The 12th-century church seats 300 people and thousands of well-wishers are expected to line the streets on their big day.
Guest list
Although George Clooney's Venice nuptials were a star-studded affair, if you do not see any stars outside the church, it could be down to the fact that Murray does not "have any celebrity friends".
'[It'll be] everyone who we're close to, people we've spent a lot of time with in the past but also people we see ourselves spending time with in the future," he recently explained.
"That's how we came up with the names. Pretty much everything is done now and under control. I'm sure a few things will come up next week but it's pretty much sorted."
What will the bride and groom wear?
While the future Mrs Murray is offering little details about her wedding gown or the designer who created it, Sears has confirmed she will be wearing an ivory garter embroidered with the couple's initials, which was given to her by Lesley Anderson, the owner of Point Nouveau Bridal shop in Dunblane.
In January, Murray confirmed he would be honouring his Scottish roots by wearing a "proper kilt" for the big day.
Will they have children?
Expect the pitter patter of mini Murrays soon because the tennis star previously revealed he hopes to have children with Sears.
Murray said: "I can see myself having a family one day. It is something that I'm starting to think about because Kim and I have been together for eight years."
