Andy Murray seeded second at US Open behind defending champion Novak Djokovic
The Brit recently won the singles title at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
British tennis star Andy Murray has been seeded second in the men's singles for the US Open. The 29-year-old current world number two is the second-highest rated seed for the tournament at Flushing Meadows, where defending champion Novak Djokovic has been installed as the number one seed.
Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka, Rafael Nadal of Spain and Milos Raonic of Canada are seeded numbers three, four and five respectively for the much-anticipated event, which begins on 29 August.
In the women's draw, meanwhile, Britain's Johanna Konta has been seeded a career-high 13th, with Tara Moore and Laura Robson set to begin their quest to qualify for the tournament on Wednesday (24 August).
Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber of Germany are seeded numbers one and two respectively, with Garbine Muguruza, Agnieszka Radwanska and Simona Halep completing the top five.
