Frustrated Winger Mirrors Ozil Amid Manchester United and Arsenal Interest
Real Madrid have warned Manchester United, Arsenal and Monaco that Angel Di Maria will not be leaving the club this January but questions remain over the player's happiness at the Bernabeu.
The Argentina winger has appeared in 13 league games this season but has seen his number of opportunities decrease in recent weeks as Gareth Bale has hit form, culminating in the winger being substituted before the hour mark as Real Madrid laboured to a 0-0 draw with second tier side Olimpic Xativa in their weekend Copa Del Rey clash.
Di Maria complained of an injury with his side desperately struggling to find an opening and was taken off but refused to acknowledge his manager as he marched straight down to the dressing room.
Spanish newspaper AS drew comparisons to the manner in which he left the pitch to that of a frustrated Mesut Ozil when he was taken off early in what turned out to be his last game for the club before joining Arsenal at the end of last season.
But despite the winger's frustrated departure from the pitch, Real boss Carlo Ancelotti denied suggestions his player was unhappy with the winger's display and categorically denied a move will be on the cards next month.
"He told me he felt discomfort so I told the others to warm up and, after that, I introduced Benzema," Ancelotti said following the match.
"But he has not talked about his future. He is happy here and he will not leave Real Madrid."
While the winger has been persistently linked to both United and Arsenal since the summer months, Monaco have also emerged as a club interested in the 26-year-old's services. But when quizzed on his side's chances of signing the former Benfica star, manager Claudio Ranieri was dismissive.
When asked if he was interested in signing Di Maria, the former Chelsea boss replied: "Yes. But I do not think he will come. It is just a rumour."
