Angelina Jolie's estranged father Jon Voight supports Brad Pitt amid divorce, claims source
The Mission Impossible actor reportedly wants his son-in-law to know that 'he's there for him'.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce news has come as a shock to many. The 52-year-old actor has also released a short statement saying he is "very saddened by this" and that the "well-being" of his six children will be his priority.
However, the Mr and Mrs Smith actor seems to have found support in the form of Jolie's estranged father Jon Voight. The 77-year-old actor reportedly wants his son-in-law to know that "he's there for him".
"Jon's, biggest concern right now is that the kids are cared for," a source told Hollywood Life. "He wants Brad [Pitt], and Angelina [Jolie], to get through this in the best way possible, and wants Brad to know that he's there for him. Jon understands that Brad has been dealing with a lot — juggling the marriage, the kids, and his career."
Jolie and Voight have not been on the best of terms for years, apparently because the academy award-winning actor left her family when she was just a baby. The Mission Impossible actor was also not informed about Brangelina's intimate wedding ceremony in August 2014.
"It seems like it was very nice — and with all of the kids involved, it must have been a lot of fun and very beautiful. I'm happy for them," he had told Us Weekly then.
However, the divorce filing has the veteran actor concerned for his daughter and her six children — Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8. "I have no idea [what happened], but I'll find out," Voight said.
"I'll be seeing Angie and the children pretty soon. Obviously something serious must have happened. I don't know what it is and I know Angie loves the children dearly and they're her priority in life and hopefully they're OK. It's a tough thing for them to go through," he added.
