Apple CarPlay wins Autoblog's Technology of the Year Feature Award
Apple CarPlay has won Autoblog's Technology of the Year Feature Award at The North American International Auto Show for its ease of use. The award honours the best individual technology feature in a vehicle as well as the vehicle that showcases the most transformative, integrated technologies in the automotive experience overall.
"We wanted to take the opportunity to highlight the cutting-edge vehicles and technologies on display today," said Michael Austin, editor-in-chief of Autoblog. "These winners will certainly transform the way consumers use their vehicles in the future."
While the 2016 Tesla Model S P90D secured the Technology of the Year Car Ward, the Apple CarPlay picked up the award for best individual technology feature in a vehicle.
"Tesla's Model S amazed us with self-driving capabilities that we thought were still years off. Equally impressive was how those autonomous features were delivered to Tesla owners," said Adam Morath, Autoblog's executive producer.
Stephen Rouse, Autoblog's director of product and technology, said: "Apple's CarPlay represents the impact technology is having on our connected lives and brings an experience that is easy to use and enhances the lives of consumers who use this product."
Any iPhone running on iOS 9 can support the CarPlay feature to enable key features such as making and receiving calls, sending and receiving text messages or listening to one's favourite music, leaving the hands free for driving. In other words, all these tasks can be done with just a voice command or a single-touch or the twist of a knob so that the user can completely focus on driving.
Curious CarPlay users may a take a look at the list of all vehicles that officially support this feature.
