Arkansas woman Snapchats boyfriend pointing gun at her before he allegedly kills her
On 27 September, a 21-year-old Arkansas woman Snapchatted a series of disturbing photos. The three photos showed a handgun and ammunition and her boyfriend pointing it straight at her. Hours later she was discovered dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
Stephanie Hernandez, a mother of two young daughters, was allegedly shot and killed by her 20-year-old boyfriend Rafael Gonzalez. In two of her photos, Gonzalez is seen pointing the handgun towards her, one is captioned: "Strap chat?"
Police were called to Hernandez's North Little Rock home on the night of the incident, where they spoke to Gonzalez's roommates. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Washington Post, Gonzalez's roommates told police he "accidentally shot Hernandez in the head".
The man's male roommate told police he saw him crying, claiming he had accidentally shot his girlfriend. Gonzalez then fled the scene. The roommate then reportedly told their female roommate: "There is blood everywhere, there is blood everywhere. You need to get our of here because I am about to call the police."
When they arrived, police found Hernandez's body with a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene, which was described as a "disaster" by family and friends. "The place is ransacked. There is blood all over the floor. It's clothes everywhere," Jaquinlan Davis told KATV. She continued: "I really can't believe it is true. I was just here with her yesterday. I hadn't seen her in about two months."
According to family and friends, the couple had an on-again, off-again relationship that made them uneasy. Court records revealed a roommate told police Gonzalez "routinely plays around with the pistol and would stick it to the front of Stephanie's head and to her temple."
Gonzalez was arrested on 28 September and charged with first-degree murder, booking records revealed. Police found a loaded .45 caliber pistol and bullets under a shed near the scene of the crime.
