Arrow season 3: New promo teases Oliver Queen being dragged to Lazarus Pit; five things to expect in episode 10
A new promo of the midseason premiere episode of Arrow has been released by the CW.
The 30-second promo shows Diggle, Roy Harper and Felicity dealing with the news of Oliver's death.
The promo shows a mysterious person dragging Oliver's body as the voice over says: "Its Ra's custom to leave behind the instrument of death as a memorial to honour the fallen."
But wait, is this mysterious person knocking the doors of the Lazarus Pit in the promo?
Reports claim that Oliver may survive the deadly blow by the League of Assassins leader because of Lazarus Pit.
As previously confirmed by executive producer of the show Marc Guggenheim, Lazarus Pit -- also called the Fountain of Youth -- will be introduced in the series.
The 30-second video shows Malcolm Merlyn telling Felicity, Diggle and Roy Harper that Oliver is dead. And the villains in the Sterling city run amok in the absence of the Arrow.
Here are a few things to expect in episode 10:
Team Arrow dealing with Oliver's death
The synopsis of the midseason premiere episode reads: "In the aftermath of Oliver's (Stephen Amell) fight with Ra's al Ghul (Matt Nable), Diggle (David Ramsey) and Arsenal (Colton Haynes) continue to protect the city in the Arrow's absence."
Team Arrow will continue to fight the villains while Oliver is away. And it will be interesting to see how Diggle and Roy will function in Oliver's absence.
As the promo teases villains taking over the glades, fans can look forward to some bonding between Diggle and Arsenal in upcoming episodes.
Felicity's reaction over Oliver's death
According to the official synopsis, "Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) refuses to believe that Oliver could be dead until Merlyn (John Barrowman) pays the team a surprise visit."
In the Arrow midseason finale, there was an emotional moment between Oliver and Felicity, where the former finally confesses his love for Felicity.
But as Ra's al Ghul kills Oliver at the end of the show, it will interesting to see how Felicity reacts to the news of his death.
A TVLine report teases an emotional moment for Felicity played by Emily Bett Rickards.
She told the website that she had just wrapped up filming "a sad moment" for episode 10, which has left her "drained".
The emotional scene could be the one where Felicity gets the news of Oliver's death.
Thea on her brother's disappearance
The official synopsis also says, "Thea (Willa Holland) suspects there is something more behind Oliver's disappearance and asks Merlyn for a favour."
We all know that Thea killed Sara Lance, as she was drugged by Malcolm Merlyn, and was manipulated into firing arrows at Sara, even though she wasn't consciously aware of what she was doing.
Thea is unaware that Oliver took the blame for Sara's murder and faced a "trial by combat", against Ra's al Ghul to save her.
However, Thea's suspicion is an indication that she is on to something, will she find out about Merlyn drugging her?
Ray Palmer making progress with A.T.O.M. suit
Meanwhile, the synopsis of the midseason premiere reads: "Ray (Brandon Routh) tests a part of his new suit..."
In episode 9, titled The Climb, Ray Palmer revealed to Felicity that he's working on a suit called ATOM, in the hopes of using it to protect Starling.
He wants Felicity to help out with it.
In episode 10, fans might get to see Ray's suit ready, as the promo shows him testing a part of it.
Laurel is Black Canary
"Laurel (Katie Cassidy) takes up the mantle of the Black Canary," read the synopsis of the upcoming episode.
The CW has provided the first look of Katie Cassidy as the Black Canary, in promotional images.
Going by the episode 11 promo, fans would finally get to see Cassidy step into her sister's shoes when Arrow resumes.
Episode 10 of Arrow will be aired on 21 January, 2015.
