Leicester City defender Wes Morgan believes that Jamie Vardy has done the right thing by rejecting a move to Arsenal as he can replicate his success with the Foxes and help them in their title defence next season. The England international scored 24 goals last season, second only to Harry Kane and was seen as the answer to the north London club's problems up front as they activated his release clause.

Vardy spurned the chance to move to the Emirates and instead signed a new long term contract with Leicester. However, the Foxes saw their first major exit in the form of midfielder N'Golo Kante, who signed for Chelsea this summer and are on alert on the future of forward Riyad Mahrez, who is also being targeted by Arsenal. Manager Claudio Ranieri has categorically refuted any interest in the player and insists that he will remain at the King Power Stadium after the end of the summer.

Meanwhile, Morgan insists that Vardy will get only better next season and that the 29-year-old can lead the Foxes to yet another successful season. The Premier League Champion was on target against Wales in the recently concluded Euros, where England crashed out of the round of 16 to Iceland.

"Jamie had a fantastic season. It's to be expected that teams are going to be interested in him. But he has committed himself to Leicester now and it's great for the fans, the players and the club," Morgan said, as quoted by ESPN.

"He has proved himself on the big stage and, no doubt, he can do that again because he's much more confident now. Even on the international stage with England, he has been a threat straight away and, at Leicester, he's proved himself. We are the defending champions -- there's no reason for him to leave," the defender added.
