Arsenal are "desperate" in signing Leicester City scout Steve Walsh, according to the former Foxes defender Matt Elliott. Walsh returned to the King Power Stadium in November 2011 to begin his second spell at Leicester and is currently the assistant manager at the club.

The Foxes signed Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez during Walsh's time at the club and the duo have been the two star players up front. In addition to this, the arrival of Claudio Ranieri saw Walsh help the Italian boss in bringing N'Golo Kante, Robert Huth, Shinji Okazaki and Gokhan Inler along to the club last summer.

Vary, Mahrez, Kante and Huth have been key players for Leicester in the 2015/16 season, which has seen them sit on top of the Premier League table. After 31 matches, they have 66 points and are five points ahead of second place Tottenham Hotspur. Elliott heaped praise upon Ranieri and his backroom staff, while confirming that Arsenal are keen on bringing Walsh to the Emirates.

"Claudio Ranieri has brought with him a feel good factor. He hasn't come in and swept the place clean with a new broom, but he could see by the run at the end of last season that there were a lot of positives and added to it," Elliott told Goal.com.

"His recruitment of staff has been first class. Steve Walsh, for instance, has been a massive influence. Arsenal are desperate to have him on their staff and he's just as much in demand as any of our players. But ultimately it is down the players, such as Jamie Vardy, N'Golo Kante and [Riyad] Mahrez."

"It has certainly put Leicester on the map, not just in Europe, but in the world. "We've even become a tourist attraction. You see people from all corners of the world in the city now because of the appeal of the Premier League and what we've achieved.

"I have never heard so many different pronunciations of Leicester. We thought the remains of Richard III being found in a car park in the city and then internment at the cathedral was big news, but this is up there. The city has been on the front and back pages."

Arsenal have already secured the services of Ben Wrigglesworth from Leicester. He was the head of technical scouting at the King Power Stadium and will now take on the role as first team video scout at the Emirates.
