Arsene Wenger coy on potential signings of Real Madrid's Karim Benzema and Juventus's Arturo Vidal
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been coy on the Gunners' interest in securing the services of both Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and former Manchester United target Arturo Vidal ahead of next season as he remains focused on the FA Cup final against Aston Villa on Sunday 30 May.
The French boss has reportedly earmarked the signing of a world class scorer and a midfielder as the two main priorities of the coming summer transfer window.
Recent reports claim the Gunners are preparing a £35m ($54m) bid to bring the Real Madrid star to the Emirates Stadium this summer to be the number one ahead of Olivier Giroud.
Wenger is said to be a big admirer of his compatriot and has been linked with a move to secure his services in recent seasons.
And after the Spanish giants sacked Carlo Ancelotti, some reports have claimed the club are preparing to part ways with Benzema as they did before with Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria to give the attacking lead to Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
"You can suspect that [Real Madrid may sell him this summer] but at the moment I am not in a transfer mode," Wenger responded when asked about the Gunners' interest in the striker.
"We'll deal with the transfers after the FA Cup final. It's all suspicions. Does anybody know if that's true or not? I don't know."
Meanwhile other reports from South America have claimed the Gunners have already agreed personal terms to sign Juventus star Vidal to partner his compatriot Alexis Sanchez ahead of next season.
The Chilean international midfielder was heavily linked with a move to both Liverpool and especially Manchester United during summer 2014 but he opted to stay with the Serie A giants.
Questioned on whether is it true that Arsenal have stolen Vidal to the Premier League and asked for his opinion on the player, Wenger replied: "If I tell you I like him, you will announce the transfer just after that.
"If you want me to say I like Arturo Vidal, yes I like Arturo Vidal. Are we in a transfer mode? I say no."
