Where to Watch Live

The play is scheduled for 12am GMT. Live coverage of Day 1 will be available on Sky Sports 2 and Sky Sports 2 HD.

Overview

England might have enjoyed a good run in the Ashes series played at home, but failed to replicate the same form during the first Test of the tour in Brisbane. England suffered a crushing defeat as the visitors lost by 381 runs on the fourth day in the worst possible start to the winter.

Michael Clarke won the toss and decided to bat as the hosts were bowled out before the end of the first session of day two. Australia managed 295 runs from their first innings with Brad Haddin (94) and Mitchell Johnson (64) contributing down the order.

In reply, England were bowled out for 136 before the end of second day's play with Johnson picking up five wickets in the first innings. Australia came to bat for the second time on the day and continued to do so for the most part of the third day in Brisbane, posting a total of 401 for the loss of seven wickets in the second innings.

England failed to improvise on their first innings score as they suffered another collapse lower down the order as Australia took 1-0 lead in the Ashes series. Alastair Cook and his men will be hoping to level the series during the second test in Adelaide.
