Baker battles vile Twitter trolls with delicious cakes - especially if it's Trump
'Troll cakes' teaches nasty netizens a lesson with sprinkles on top.
A US baker has come up with an ingenious way of ridiculing internet trolls by literally making social media scumbags eat their words. Dreamed up by New York baker Kat Thek, "Troll Cakes" does exactly what it says on the (cake) tin - make trolls famous by way of sponge cakes.
Should you be on the receiving end of a particularly vile social media troll, rather than send an aggressive response, Troll Cakes goes for a more passive aggressive - and infinitely sweeter - way of delivering a rebuttal.
The Troll Cakes website invites customers to quote their verbal attacker so that Thek can get to work creating a tasty sponge cake with the troll's barb decorating the top with fondant or frosting. Should you know the troll's address already, the whole process will set you back $35 (£27).
For $60 Troll Cakes will do the work for you and track down the abuser by doubling up as a "Detective Agency", although this is done on a case by case basis. Unfortunately the excellent anti-troll service is only available in the US.
"When you open it up, [the box] looks like 100 percent good news," Thek told NPR. "And then you see a screen grab of your comment, and it says, 'Congratulations! Your Internet comment has been made into a Troll Cake.'"
Thek didn't stop there though, as Troll Cakes' third tier - "Tiny Hands Special" - targets a very special kind of Twitter troll. Namely, US president Donald Trump, and Thek noted that should the White House run out of room for confectionery treats decorated with Trump tweets, she's always prepared to start sending cakes to his Mar-a-Lago retreat too.
Below are a few of our favourite bakes from Troll Cakes' Instagram... just don't start sending malicious tweets in the hope of receiving free cake.
