Barcelona 'alerted as Chelsea target Davinson Sanchez' could leave Ajax this summer
Eredivisie side could part ways with the 20-year-old centre-back for around £21m.
Barcelona have been encouraged to renew their attempts to sign Davinson Sanchez following reports claiming that Ajax are ready to put the Colombian centre-back in the market in the coming summer transfer window.
Mundo Deportivo claims that the La Liga giants have been informed about the plans of the Eredivisie side but the Catalans could face competition from Chelsea and Bayern Munich to secure his services.
The Catalans reportedly tried to sign 20-year-old Sanchez from Atletico Nacional during the last summer transfer window as a prospect for the future.
It was said that Barcelona wanted Sanchez to continue his development in the reserves before having the chance to breakthrough into the first-team.
However, the Colombian starlet finally turned down the proposal from the Catalans at the very last minute to move instead to Ajax – as they offer him an instant opportunity with the first-team.
Sanchez has since proven to be into one of the sensations of the campaign at the Eredivisie side. Nevertheless, the former Atletico Nacional was recently named Ajax' Player of the Season after having led them to the Europa League semi-finals.
Mundo Deportivo claims that the Eredivisie giants are ready to take advantage of his impressive campaign to make a substantial profit by putting him on the market for around €25m (£21m, $21.1m) only a year after getting him for only €5m.
The Spanish publication claims that Ajax have already informed Barcelona through third parties about their intentions while Chelsea and Bayern are considering to make a move.
Barcelona already signed Samuel Umtiti during the summer transfer window but are still reportedly on the market for another young centre-back as Jeremy Mathieu is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
Yet, Mundo Deportivo suggests that Barcelona should act quickly as Chelsea and Bayern could offer up to €40m to lure him away from Ajax and the Catalans won't be able to go that high.
Sanchez's agent, according to the report, is expected to travel to Europe at the end of the month to discuss the future of his client. Yet, first, the promising centre-back will probably have to play the Europa League final after Ajax beat Lyon 4-1 in the first leg of the semi-finals.
