Barcelona team news: Sergio Busquets and Sergi Roberto miss training ahead of Rayo Vallecano game
The Barcelona duo of Sergio Busquets and Sergi Roberto are doubts for the La Liga leader's trip to Rayo Vallecano on 3 March, with Mundo Deportivo reporting that both midfielders missed the Monday (29 February) training session with fitness issues. Luis Enrique will also be without the suspended Dani Alves and long-term absentee Rafinha Alcantara.
Busquets and Sergi Roberto made the Barcelona starting midfield, alongside Arda Turan, in the 2-1 comeback victory over Sevilla on Sunday. Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique scored the goals to extend the Catalans' unbeaten run to 34 games, equalling the record set by Real Madrid in the 1988/89 season.
However, Mundo Deportivo reports the Barcelona pair could miss the midweek fixture as they both picked up knocks in the match, being forced to work out in the gym away from their teammates in Monday's training session.
But the duo, according to a later report in Mundo Deportivo, have now gone to the Barcelona training ground on Tuesday in a bid to recover in time for the game despite Luis Enrique having designated it as a day off for the squad.
Should the pair finally miss the game, Enrique is expected to move Javier Mascherano up into the holding role, with Ivan Rakitic taking Roberto's place as he did in the second-half against Sevilla.
Aleix Vidal is presumed to keep his place at right-back as Alves will miss the game due to suspension, after the Brazil international collected his fifth yellow card of the season on Sunday. The Barcelona trip to Vallecas will also come too soon for Rafinha, who has been out of action since undergoing knee surgery earlier in September.
