Barcelona transfer news: Lorenzo Insigne's agent reveals he held talks with Catalan giants
Barcelona have held talks with the agent of Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne. Robert Fernandez, the technical secretary of the Spanish champions, recently said the club might be interested in signing the 25-year-old Italian.
However, the player's agent, Fabio Andreotti, has admitted that the cash-strapped Catalans will not be firming up their interest in Insigne this summer, despite holding transfer talks about the highly-rated player.
"There was contact with Barcelona but other clubs are also interested," Andreotti told Radio Marte of his talks with Barcelona. "I was the one to call the Blaugrana after Fernandez said that they could be interested. "In the meeting, however, they (Barcelona) made it clear that they were focusing on other players."
Andreotti did not reveal the names of the other players Barcelona are pursuing this summer, but another of their rumoured transfer targets, French defender Samuel Umtiti, recently suggested he would like to make the move in the coming weeks.
"Barça are a great club and many players would like to play there," Umtiti said amid Barcelona's reported interest. "I am handling the rumours well, I am happy to be here (at Euro 2016) and I am taking advantage of every moment.
"My future is being dealt with by my agents. I am not too distracted by that right now, I am focused on this competition."
