Barcelona vs Deportivo Alaves, Copa del Rey final 2016/17: Where to watch live, preview, betting odds and possible XI
Barcelona looking to end disappointing season on a high by clinching Copa del Rey crown.
Barcelona will look to end a disappointing season on a high by beating Deportivo Alaves in the Copa del Rey final at the Vicente Calderon on 27 May.
Where to watch live
Kick-off is set for 8.30pm BST. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports 2 HD.
Overview
Barcelona came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Eibar 4-2 at Camp Nou on 21 May, but it was not enough as Real Madrid won their match against Malaga to pip their great rivals to the La Liga title. The Copa del Rey final against Deportivo Alaves is Luis Enrique's last match as Barcelona coach, with Ernesto Valverde expected to be appointed as his successor.
Luis Suarez and Sergi Roberto will both miss the final through suspension.
Deportivo Alaves extended their unbeaten run to seven matches as they ended their La Liga season with a 1-1 draw at Leganes. The Basque side stunned Barcelona by beating them 2-1 at Camp Nou in the league in September, but were crushed 6-0 in the reverse fixture in February.
Defender Victor Laguardia is nursing a knee injury and will not face Barcelona.
What managers say
Luis Enrique: "We haven't ended the season as we wanted. La Liga is 38 games long and it rewards consistency. We were not consistent enough – especially earlier in the season at home – to win the league and we have paid for that. We didn't depend on ourselves [going into the final day]. We fought until the very end and now we congratulate a worthy champion." [via ESPN]
Mauricio Pellegrino: "I want to win [the Copa del Rey] for this club, these fans, these players, my family, for a lot of reasons. We are a difficult team to play against. I have a competitive group of players, who are very honest and play with the best of intentions. We look to do simple things in the best way and try to compete with the weapons we have. What we must do is focus on the aspects in which our team is stronger. They have a style we don't have but we have things that they don't have." [via Marca]
