Tony Pulis and Brendan Rodgers met at this crucial stage of the season year over a year ago. Then, it was the former's Crystal Palace side who came from 3-0 down to clinch a thrilling draw to effectively end Liverpool's hopes of winning their first league title in 25 years.
This time around, a point is unlikely to be good enough for either side. A win for West Brom will lift them to 39 points put real daylight between them and the rest of the relegation pack. Liverpool are likely to have slipped down to sixth by the time they kick off. They are already seven points behind fourth placed Manchester City. Their hopes of Champions League qualification are already flagging. They could be over by this evening.
