Batman v Superman actor Jason Momoa on Aquaman: 'Wait and watch before making jokes'
Actor Jason Momoa is all set to revamp Aquaman's image for comic book fans. We already know that his take on the DC superhero will be a big contrast to how Aquaman has been portrayed in popular culture so far.
Earlier this year, director Zack Snyder released an image of Momoa as Aquaman and it became pretty clear that the character is going to be a total bad--s. During his recent appearance at Fan Expo Canada, Momoa answered some questions about his role in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, saying generally that it will be "amazing." Responding to the question of whether Aquaman will be a less-dark, "chill" superhero in contrast to the serious, brooding characters of Batman and Superman, Momoa said, "I can't see me busting out a bunch of jokes. I mean, I don't think it'll be like that."
Momoa, who is best known for playing Khal Drogo (Daenerys' husband) on Game Of Thrones season 1, joked that he would not be bringing anything from his past role, to Aquaman. "I don't think Aquaman's going to be raping and pillaging any villages," he said.
Finally, Momoa was asked to respond to the numerous fish jokes made about Aquaman. "You know, it's cute and funny, I mean people make fun of him and there's a bunch of jokes about him. But I'm like 'Well... just wait. Let's just wait a little bit. And then we can make jokes...'" Let us hope that the next trailer of Batman v Superman will show a glimpse of Aquaman in action.
Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice opens on 25 March 2016. The film stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.
The solo Aquaman film starring Momoa is slated to release on 27 July 2018 with Fast and Furious 7's James Wan directing.
