Beauty And The Beast first images reveal Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in Disney live-action movie
The stills also feature Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as LeFou and Kevin Kline as Belle's father Maurice.
Back in May, Disney unveiled a teasing glimpse at their upcoming live-action adaptation of animated classic Beauty And The Beast and while it didn't give much away, it made audiences even more excited about the new take on the tale as old as time. Now, the studio (via Entertainment Weekly) has released a bunch of first-look images which finally reveal Emma Watson's Belle and Dan Stevens' princely creature.
Fans of the 1991 outing will recognise some of the scenes the photos depict, including Watson's Belle spending time with her eccentric inventor father Maurice and Gaston's (Luke Evans) theatrical declaration that he will slay the Beast and marry Belle just like he intended to before she was captured by the 'monster'. But it's safe to say that everyone will likely be most excited to see the two titular characters during the iconic ballroom scene, complete with yellow gown and loving embrace.
The Huntsman: Winter's War writer Evan Spiliotopoulos and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower author Stephen Chbosky wrote the screenplay for this interpretation of the well-known fairy tale, working from Linda Woolverton's original script.
Joining Watson, Evans and Stevens on screen is Oscar-winner Kevin Kline is on board to play Maurice and Frozen's Josh Gad is set to portray LeFou, Gaston's bumbling sidekick. Emma Thompson will be heard as lovable teapot Mrs Potts while Black Mirror's Gugu Mbatha-Raw will be lending her voice to Lumiere's girlfriend Plumette (Fifi in the original animation). Fan favourites Lumiere the candlestick and clock Cogsworth will be played by Ewan McGregor and Ian McKellen respectively. All of the supporting characters mentioned - CGI or not - can be seen in the recently released images.
Featuring new songs composed by Alan Menken and Tim Rice and directed by Twilight's Bill Condon, Beauty And The Beast is scheduled to reach both UK and US screens on 17 March 2017. But before then, be our guest and take a look at the stills...
