Beauty And The Beast trailer: Emma Watson glimpsed in first look at Disney's live-action reboot
The first teaser trailer to Disney's live-action take on Beauty On The Beast was released on Monday morning on ABC's Good Morning America. Just like the animated classic, which was first released in 1991, the Bill Condon-directed reboot will once again tell the story of Belle, a young dream-prone girl who falls for a mysterious prince who is cursed to look like a beast for the rest of his days...or until he finds his one true love.
Harry Potter star Emma Watson appears in the gorgeous clip in the titular role... but only just. When they say teaser, they really do mean teaser! Her co-star, Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens, who plays the Beast wasn't glimpsed this time round.
Fan favourites candlestick Lumiere and clock Cogsworth can be heard however, voiced by Ewan McGregor and Ian McKellen respectively. However, fans didn't get a look at Luke Evan's muscular antagonist Gaston. The Huntsman: Winter's War scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower author Stephen Chbosky wrote the screenplay for this interpretation of the well-known fairy tale, working from Linda Woolverton's original script.
Joining Watson, Evans and Stevens on screen, Oscar-winner Kevin Kline is on board to play Belle's father Maurice and Frozen's Josh Gad is set to portray Le Fou, Gaston's bumbling sidekick.
Among those lending their voices to the film include Emma Thompson who is playing well-loved character Mrs Potts, and Private Practice star Audra McDonald, who brings Garderobe to life. Concussion actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw is playing Lumiere's girlfriend Plumette (Fifi in the original animation) and Stanley Tucci will portray new character Cadenza, the grand piano.
Even though the trailer has been unveiled worldwide today, fans still have a long while to wait until they will finally be able to see it in cinemas. At the moment, Beauty And The Beast is slated to reach both UK and US screens on 17 March 2017.
