Beyonce cancels Formation tour date but celebrates 35th birthday with Soul Train party
Doctors have told the Sorry singer to rest her voice as East Rutherford tour date is rescheduled to 7 October.
Beyonce rarely misses a beat but the singer has been forced to cancel an upcoming show on her Formation World Tour. The Sorry hitmaker was due to perform in New Jersey on 7 September but is now on vocal rest per doctor's orders.
Fans had expected to see Queen Bey perform at the Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey but the concert is now postponed until 7 October.
The venue announced the news via a statement, which read: "As a result of strict doctor's orders for vocal rest, Beyonce's highly anticipated New York City area Formation World Tour date in E. Rutherford previously scheduled for this Wed. September 7th at MetLife Stadium has been postponed until Friday, October 7th.
"Fans holding tickets for the previously scheduled performance should retain them as they will be valid at the rescheduled MetLife Stadium date. If necessary, refunds will be available as of Wed. September 7th at point of purchase... Live Nation and Parkwood Entertainment apologise for any inconvenience."
The next Formation tour date is set for 10 September at The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
News of the postponed date may come as a surprise to fans as Beyonce was seen partying over Labor Day weekend and attending her husband Jay Z's Made In America festival in Philadelphia. The Hold Up singer turned 35 on 4 September and celebrated her special day by throwing a lavish Soul Train-themed bash in New York the following evening. Celebrity guests at the party included Alicia Keys and her music producer husband Swizz Beatz, r'n'b singer Usher and his wife Grace.
Many of Beyonce's peers took to social media to wish the Grammy-winning singer a happy birthday, including Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba, Mariah Carey, DJ Khaled and Nicki Minaj. Thanking her friends and fans for the kind messages, Beyonce wrote on Instagram: "I just want to say thank you to everyone for all the beautiful and thoughtful birthday wishes.
"I am so fortunate to have the love and support of my family, my friends, and my hive. We've grown up together and you guys continue to inspire and motivate me everyday. I'm so grateful for every challenge, every smile, every tear, every discovery, every sacrifice, every triumph, every stretch mark, every kiss, every scar. I strive to make you proud. I love YOOOUUUU!!!"
