Beyonce decorates baby bump with henna tattoo at African-themed baby shower
Celebrities including Serena Williams, Kelly Rowland and La La were among those in attendance.
It was all about Mother Nature at Beyonce's baby shower. The Formation singer's mother Tina Knowles hosted the African-themed event, which was dubbed the Carter Push Party in celebration of the imminent arrival of the pop star's twin babies.
Guests at the Beverly Hills party included tennis champion Serena Williams, who is pregnant with her first child, Destiny's Child singers Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, actress La La Anthony and Saturday Night Live's Vanessa Bayer. Mother-to-be Beyonce, 35, fully embraced the tribal spirit donning a head-wrap with a matching printed skirt and large beaded necklace while bearing her growing baby bump, which was decorated with a large henna tattoo.
Doing away with a traditionally female-only baby shower, Beyonce's husband Jay Z was also present at the push party and wore an all-white outfit accessorised with a necklace in the shape of Africa, a tribal hat and some henna tattoos of his own.
In a black and white photo posted on the singer's Instagram account, Jay Z, 47, is seen resting his hands on Beyonce's baby bump as the couple smile sweetly at each other.
According to E! News, the party was held at a property previously owned by Madonna and guests arrived at around 2pm in limousines.
A source told the website: "The party was very family-friendly with Blue Ivy and lots of her friends running around the grounds of the estate. There was a huge tent erected on the property where most of the shower took place. The decor was African themed and very colourful with lounge seating areas, floor pillows and rugs on the floor."
The entrance was decorated with large balloons which said: "Carter Push Party" and "Twinning", while the interior decor included wooden elephants and pink and white roses. In addition to the henna tattoo artist, guests were entertained with African dancers and drummers and a soul food buffet.
Beyonce, who is already mother to five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, has not revealed her due date but is expected to give birth in the coming weeks. The Grammy-winner can certainly afford to splash out on an extravagant baby shower after reports that she and Jay Z are now a billion dollar couple.
