Big Bang Theory season 9 episode 12 will not air this Thursday: What is next in store for Sheldon and Amy?
If you are planning to tune into CBS to watch The Big Bang Theory season 9's next episode on Thursday (24 December), brace yourself for some disappointment. The comedy series has gone on a winter hiatus and will return with new episodes from 7 January 2016.
According to CBS, episode 12 is titled The Sales Call Sublimation. In the previous episode, Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler finally had coitus as Leonard, Howard and Rajesh watch the new Star Wars movie.
Showrunner Steve Molaro in an interview with Variety teased if there is a baby in store for Sheldon and Amy.
"Not at the moment. Babies have a tendency to alter the DNA of a show a little more than we're looking to at this time. There are other avenues we want to explore before we get to the pitter-patter of little nerd feet," Molaro said.
Speaking about their much-awaited coitus, the showrunner maintained: "I don't think we ever tapped into Sheldon being asexual enough that we ever thought it would be a sellout when we got to this point."
"It was something we talked about early on, but once he met and started dating Amy — which has now been 5½ years — it just sort of evolved naturally. So it wasn't a real concern of ours," Molaro shared.
Actress Mayim Bialik also dished about Amy and Sheldon's intimate moment from The Opening Night Excitation in her Grok Nation blog. Bialik wrote: "My character Amy is also a late bloomer; much later than I was. She is in her 30s, I think, and Amy has only kissed one person."
"There is nothing wrong with that, and I have enjoyed being in what I think might be television's longest-running, intimate, romantic, loving relationship that didn't have sex as part of it, I think it's marvelous to have been a part of that," she added.
