Black Friday 2016: Premier League clubs slash prices as they join retail spree
Arsenal offer online discounts of up to 75%, while Leicester re-brand the day 'Blue Friday'.
The biggest shopping day of the year kicked off this morning and football clubs have wasted no time in embracing Black Friday, with many offering 20% off kit and other merchandise in their shops and online.
Perhaps inevitably given the importance they place on commercial sponsors, Manchester United have been quick off the mark and have launched a promotion across their online store, offering 20% off everything until the end of Cyber Monday (28 November).
That means an adult away kit now costs £48 instead of £60, rising to £57.56 for those wanting their idol's name and number on the back. If wearing a football kit anywhere outside the gym is not your thing – and, let's face it, it should not be – there are a host of other items on sale from training gear, to cereal bowls, to pint glasses.
The latter can be yours for as little as £4.80 and will be extremely useful to drain your sorrows in the next time Chris Smalling misplaces a pass or loses his man in the box.
The pick of the crop, however, is an outstandingly colourful Christmas jumper, available for £24 for adults and £20 for kids and likely to prove a hit when the City-supporting relatives come around for Christmas dinner.
Not a club to be undone easily, Arsenal are offering up to 75% off on selected products over the weekend, giving customers a chance to find that value for money Arsene Wenger has been desperately trying to find in the transfer market.
An official Arsenal track top comes in at £30, while casual T-shirts are on sale from £5, although there are only limited sizes available. The Gunners' official website also offers free name and number printing on home shirts, while across London, Chelsea are offering a 25% discount online and in store.
A training top costs £37.50, rather than the usual £50, while the club's Monopoly edition is available for £22.50.
Meanwhile, Leicester City might be struggling in the league but at least they have retained their sense of humour, as they have launched Blue Friday, their own version of the shopping bonanza.
Replica kits and training gear are on sale with a 20% discount, while there is 60% and 70% off the ladies and men's fashion collections respectively. Christmas jumpers start at £15 and we all trust Jamie Vardy and Claudio Ranieri will be wearing one next month.
