The Blacklist season 3: Leaked premiere title teases Red and Liz hunting new criminal; what to expect next
The Blacklist season 3 is scheduled to return on 24 September on NBC, and the title of episode 1 has leaked online. (Spoilers ahead)
The premiere is titled The Troll Farmer, where the notorious Raymond Reddington and ex-FBI agent Elizabeth Keen may reunite to find a new blacklist criminal.
In the season 2 finale, we saw Elizabeth Keen aka Liz running away from the FBI along with Reddington when the FBI turned on the two.
Red is no stranger to the criminal underworld, and his contacts will help to keep himself and Liz safe. As we have seen in the previous seasons, the pair have come in contact with at least one Blacklister in each episode. The premiere title indicates the same.
According to Spoiler TV, "The pair will have to deal with "The Troll Farmer" in the season 3 premiere."
Season 2 ended with Liz running away with Red as her former colleague Donald Ressler, places her on the FBI's Most Wanted list and removes director Cooper (Harry Lennix) from his position. Liz was being framed for the murder of a United States senator.
Here are a few plot ideas for The Blacklist season 3:
1. Red and Keen's lives as fugitives: In season 3, fans will see Red and Liz living as fugitives.
"[This storyline] opens and takes us into a new chapter where she is no longer just an FBI agent, they have a real journey that they're about to go on. They're entering the third season as fugitives," executive producer Jon Bokenkamp revealed.
With Liz no longer an agent and her former FBI allies now hunting her down, it is safe to say that season 3 will shake things up a bit.
2. New Dynamics: Megan Boone who plays Liz told Zap2it that "Season 3 is going to be the same characters but a different show, a very different dynamic. It is going to change."
She hinted that the changes come from the break-up in the task force, "If you break open the entire task force, then it will be challenging to try to find the procedural aspect of the show again. With 22 episodes a year, it does benefit the show to have some kind of a formula ... but we are going to sort of break open a lot of the structure of the show."
3. Tough Elizabeth Keen in season 3: According to Bokenkamp, the ultimate impact of the events in season 2 is that Liz's "line of good and bad has become blurred" and the events in the finale "hardens her in ways and makes her more jaded and careful and really more like Reddington in a lot of ways."
Will Liz and Red return to the FBI? The Blacklist season 3 starts filming on 24 July and the first trailer is expected in the first week of August.
