The Blacklist season 3: Will Liz Keen have a baby? Jon Bokenkamp weighs in
The Blacklist season 3's lead actress Megan Boone is expecting her first child with artist boyfriend Dan Estabrook. Executive producer Jon Bokenkamp dishes on whether Boone's pregnancy will be written in the series.
The show is currently on a winter hiatus and will return with all new episodes on Thursday, 7 January, at 9 pm ET on NBC. It is worth mentioning that before Elizabeth Keen went on the run with Raymond Reddington (James Spader), she had slept with her former husband Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold).
Will Liz and Tom have a baby in the show? Jon Bokenkamp told Entertainment Weekly: "We are still trying to figure it out. It plays in a number of different ways, both story wise and physically, for Megan in trying to figure out what that would mean to the show."
The producer teased that Liz and Red's dynamics will make it difficult to write a pregnancy storyline. "It's really hard in a show that has — whether he's her father or not — a parental core to it," Jon said and added: "In a show that has a father-daughter type relationship, it's incredibly difficult to ignore the fact that our lead actress is pregnant. It's still being figured out exactly what that means."
In the fall finale, Liz was finally captured by agent Donald Ressler. She will be seen behind the big glass box that used to hold Red when the show returns. NBC has released the synopsis for its mid-season premiere episode titled The Director Part 1 and it reads as follows:
While Liz (Megan Boone) awaits trial Red (James Spader) and Aram (Amir Arison) take bold measures to ensure her protection.
