Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds donate $2 million for migrant children
Two organizations have been given $1 million each, to help the migrant children's education and their rights
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds invested their money towards a noble cause. Recently they donated $2 million to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights.
The Young Center said that the sum contributed by the "Gossip Girl" star and "Deadpool" actor will be used to set up Waymaker Fund for Immigrant Children, People reports. The fund aims to protect the rights of minors who have been separated from their parents along the border, amidst increased deportation efforts.
NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund aims to promote racial and social justice across the nation. They challenge the unconstitutional legislation and advocacy litigation.
"We're blown away by the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and the Young Center's commitment to not only justice and democracy, but humanity," read a statement released by the couple on Wednesday.
They said that over the years their perspectives have been broadened and they believe that they have to do everything which will enhance "passion" and "empathy" in the world. Lively and Reynolds revealed they are helping in re-writing history. The couple were grateful to donate to organisations who give "voices" to many people.
Last year George and his lawyer wife Amal Clooney donated $1 million to the Young Center.
The 32-year-old Lively is also associated with celeb-backed charity organisation Climate for Change. Meanwhile, Reynolds has been associated with various organisations like- Make-A-Wish Foundation, F**k Cancer and the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Their donations to the two organisations will provide much-needed support to garner the social justice of these migrant children.
Previously, Lively shared her thoughts on Trump administration with The Hill back in 2017. "There's a lot that's worrying me as a woman, as a mother, and not just that, but as a human being who cares about other human beings and our rights and our liberties and what we value," she said.
Reynolds and Lively are soon expecting their third child. They are already proud parents of two lovely daughters, four-year-old James and two-year-old Inez.
