Borussia Monchengladbach take on Manchester City in a Champions League clash at Borussia-Park on 23 November (Wednesday).

Where to watch live

Kick-off is at 7:45pm GMT. Live coverage of the match will be available on BT Sport 2 and BT Sport 1.

Overview

Monchengladbach are not enjoying a good run in the Bundesliga as they have gone without a win in the last six matches in the league. In their last fixture, the Foals suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of FC Koln.

The goal they scored in the last tie has been the only time they have managed to score in the last six league games. Andre Schubert is under pressure to keep his job at Borussia-Park, but has received a vote of confidence from the club's sporting director Max Eberl.

The last time the two sides faced each other in the Champions League was in September, which City won comfortably. Sergio Aguero was the star player of the match as the Argentine scored a hat-trick in a 4-0 win.

City, on the other hand, enter this fixture after registering a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the league tie. Yaya Toure returned to the starting lineup and the Ivory Coast midfielder was the star player of the match as he scored a brace, which helped his side seal three points.

A victory for Pep Guardiola's side on Wedneday evening and a defeat for Celtic against Barcelona will be sufficient for both City and the Catalan club to progress to the last 16 of Europe's elite club competition.

In the last Champions League tie, City registered a 3-1 win over Barcelona, which came after losing 4-0 against the same opponent at Camp Nou.

What managers say

Andre Schubert: "We are not taking the pleasure of this game. Manchester City are one of the best teams in the world and they can win the Champions League. It would be better to attack the English side and with a victory behind you."

Pep Guardiola: "Toure is another guy to compete with our midfield players and increase our level. Of course now he's not able to play on Wednesday, or in the last (group) game against Celtic. If we are able to qualify for the Champions League (knockout stages), after, I will sit with myself, my staff, and we will decide who are the best players to help us to achieve in the Champions League games."
