Bruce Jenner sex change: Kim Kardashian and sisters 'hysterical' over transition news

Bruce Jenner's step-children initially struggled to come to terms with his sex change with his desire to live like a women dividing his blended family ,People Magazine reports.

Kim Kardashian recently came out in support of her step-father Bruce Jenner's "journey", but according to the publication, it took time for her to accept the truth.

An insider claims that the 34-year-old reality star and her sisters Kourtney and Khloe were left "hysterical" after the former Olympian revealed plans to live as a women.

"They were just hysterical when it all really came out," a source said of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe, who were the last to find out Bruce was making the change.

The insider added: "The divorce caused a divide, but Bruce's decision to share his transition has caused an even greater divide."

Jenner has been the focus of sex-change rumours after he reportedly had his Adam's apple surgically reduced, a common procedure by men seeking gender reassignment. He also allegedly started taking oestrogen and asked to be referred to as "Brigitte".

The source added that until watching his appearance change was especially difficult for the family "Everyone thought he was trying to feel young, that kind of thing," the source expaliend. "The whole family went through a rough patch. It's naturally a difficult thing to process and work through."

People's story claims that while Jenner became aware in his early teens of his desire to dress as a woman, he spent almost 50 years in denial.

While the 65-year-old star has refused to address the mounting transgender claims, it has been revealed that he is leaving the Keeping up with the Kardashians franchise to launch his own series for the E! Network, documenting his reported gender transition.

Kardashian previously described it as "his journey".

"I think everyone goes through things in life, and I think that story and what Bruce is going through, I think he'll share whenever the time is right. I feel like that's his journey to talk about," she told Entertainment Tonight.
