Burberry's Christopher Bailey Makes Fashion Hall of Fame at 42
Just weeks after Christopher Bailey was named CEO of Burberry, the Yorkshire-born designer has celebrated another fashion triumph.
The 42-year-old style icon received the ultimate promotion gift when he was inducted into the fashion Hall of Fame at the fourth annual WGSN Global Fashion Awards.
He was honoured with the coveted title at the London ceremony inside the Victoria and Albert Museum.
According to WGSN, the prestigious accolade is awarded to individuals who have "furthered the interests of the industry, broken new ground and inspired the world."
Bailey follows in the footsteps of past recipients including photographer Rankin and Biba founder Barbara Hulanicki.
The Royal College of Art Bailey graduate worked at Donna Karan and Gucci before joining Burberry as creative director in 2001. He was promoted to chief creative officer in 2009.
Bailey has been credited for boosting the fortunes of the British label and will replace Angela Ahrendts as CEO in 2014, following her departure to Apple.
He will continues to juggle his previous position as chief creative officer at Burberry.
