Canary Wharf Lockdown Amid Security Alert Close to Barclays HQ
London's Canary Wharf business district has been put on lockdown following reports of a suspicious package in Churchill Place, beside the skyscraper housing Barclays Bank HQ.
Met Police officers were called to London's financial district at 9am after it was alleged a package was found there.
Police cars are currently parked along Upper Bank Street, outside HSBC, Citi and Bank of America headquarters and roads have been cordoned off as workers are directed away from the scene.
A bomb disposal robot has also reportedly been spotted by a witness entering the district but despite the scare the scene remains calm.
London Underground services from Canary Wharf remain unaffected by the incident, which is still being investigated by officers.
