Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan dazzled in black for an evening session at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. The 39-year-old former Miss World is at the French Riviera, with a host of other stars, as part of Cannes' recognition of the 100th anniversary of Indian cinema.
Aishwarya Rai is a regular at Cannes, in her role as an ambassador for cosmetics brand L'Oreal. On this occasion though, she was on the red carpet for the screening of Indian film Bombay Talkies. She looked gorgeous in a traditional Indian outfit - a black-and-gold embroidered lehenga-sari from Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee - and teamed it with matching golden accessories for her hair.
Bombay Talkies, which released in India earlier this month, is a collaborative film divided into four parts, with each one directed by an acclaimed Bollywood auteur. The directors - Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibankar Banerjee - have, in turn, drawn on an all-star cast, which includes British-Indian glamour girl Katrina Kaif.
Meanwhile, the actress' father-in-law, a legendary figure in Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan, was in Cannes last week for the screening of his film, the Baz Luhrmann-directed The Great Gatsby in 3D.
Also present at Cannes 2013 is Vidya Balan, the winner of India's National Award for Best Actress for The Dirty Picture. The 35-year-old actress is on main competition's jury. She wore a golden silk sari designed by Sabyasachi, carried an embroidered string purse and completed the look with huge earrings.
