Cannes Film Festival 2016: Amal Clooney outshines Hollywood's A-list at Money Monster premiere
There aren't many women who can steal Julia Roberts's thunder, but it turns out that woman is Amal Clooney. The British-Lebanese human rights lawyer looked every inch a movie star as she joined her husband George Clooney and the rest of Hollywood's A list on the Cannes red carpet.
While husband George couldn't take his eyes off his stunning wife, in fact everyone was enamoured with the 38-year-old as she made her debut at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.
Wearing a summery yellow gown for the premiere of her husband's new film Money Monster, the beauty outshone the stars. Under the glare of the snappers, she managed to avert a near wardrobe malfunction as her flowing train appeared to get momentarily caught up in her feet, showing a little more of her slender legs than she had intended.
Shoes seemed to be a problem for Julia Roberts too who apparently kicked off her heels to walk the red carpet. The Oscar winner looked effortlessly stylish in a black ball gown with a plunging neckline adorned with a dazzling emerald pendant as she posed with co-star George and his wife.
As for George, the actor, who was flanked by arguably two of the most beautiful women in the world, looked like the cat who got the cream. The 53-year-old had an air of old Hollywood charm as he accompanied the glamorous women on the red carpet.
Black was a common theme on the red carpet with director of Money Monster Jodie Foster also opting for a black gown with silver embroidery as she posed with her leading actors.
Making her second red carpet appearance at the 69th Cannes Film Festival, Eva Longoria, got it right again, oozing sex appeal in a strapless black gown with beaded detail with a flattering fishtail design.
Susan Sarandon, who showed off a suited look yesterday, dared to be different once more, wearing a buttoned down navy gown with a thigh high split. The 69-year-old defied her critics in the cleavage baring dress as she posed with Australian actress Naomi Watts who opted for a stylish silver gown.
British socialite Lady Victoria Hervey made an unexpected appearance wearing an unusual white ensemble with a dramatic cape, while Oscar winner Julianne Moore, who appears to be in eclectic mood if her sartorial style is anything to go by, wore a white dress with multiple slits in the skirt.
Meanwhile, Elena Lenina made sure she stood out from the throng in a bright pink ensemble with elaborate headpiece, but possibly for all the wrong reasons. The 69th annual Cannes Film Festival runs from 11 to 22 May 2016.
