American country music singer/actress Carrie Underwood is pregnant with her first child.

The 31-year-old former American Idol winner announced that she and her husband NHL player Mike Fisher, are expecting their first child on her Instagram account.

"In honor of "Labor" Day, Ace & Penny would like to make an announcement. Their parents couldn't be happier..." she captioned the image.

Fisher, a center player for the Nashville Predators, also took to his Twitter account to share the excitement.

Underwood's publicist told Fox411 that the Blown Away hitmaker is due in the spring.

"They couldn't be happier to be starting a family," a source told Us Weekly.

The Last Name singer, who married Fisher in 2010, had previously talked about her desire to become a mother and start a family.

"Three is fine. Four? Somebody's getting something done, because we ain't having five!" she told Self magazine.

Meanwhile, Underwood previously praised Fisher, for helping her calm before a big performance.

"If I'm nervous, he'll be like, 'C'mon, you have nothing to be nervous about. Just go do what you do and take a deep breath and say a little prayer and you're good to go,'" she said in June. "Just being able to get a little kiss and go about my way, it definitely has a calming effect."
