CCTV captures Sydney thief making off with 8ft albino python and seven other snakes
Police are appealing for anyone with information on the snakes' whereabouts.
Police in Syndey, Australia are looking for a man caught on camera robbing a pet store of eight snakes – including one 8ft albino Darwin carpet python. The python, named Everest, is reportedly special to the shop and acts as a mascot.
The robbery took place at Macarthur Pets in West Sydney. In the footage, the man can be seen taking the glass panels from the snakes' enclosures before picking them up and putting them in his bag.
Daily Mail Australia reported that the albino python alone was worth over $1,000 – with all of the stolen snakes together costing more than $9,000.
"Staff here are distraught over losing Everest because he's been here forever," the store's owner told the paper, "Everest was worth well over $1,000, but it's more the sentimental value when it comes down to it."
Along with Everest, the thief took three baby albino pythons, a coastal caramel, a purebred jungle zeb and two crossbreeds.
