Celine Dion breaks down as she opens up about husband's battle with cancer
Celine Dion broke down during a TV interview as she opened up about her manager and husband René Angélil's battle with throat cancer.
Fighting back tears, the 46-year-old revealed that she feeds her husband three times a day using a feeding tube.
The singer took a year off from her Las Vegas residency to nurse her husband while he undergoes cancer treatment.
Describing his condition Dion told ABC News reporter Deborah Roberts: "He can't eat so I feed him. He's got a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day."
"We are taking life one day at a time," she said. "[But] we are choosing to live."'
Angelil,73, was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999. When he was diagnosed with cancer for a second time Dion took indefinite leave from the stage last year to care for him again.
On August 13, 2014, the Heart Will Go On singer released a statement to her fans confirming that she would be leaving her Vegas residency due to her husband's poor health.
"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children," she said. "I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support."
The couple have been married since 1994, after meeting 14 years earlier. They have three sons together, René Charles, 14, and fraternal twins Eddy and Nelson, 4.
Angélil posed with Roberts and Dion in a photo after the interview in Las Vegas.
The singer will resume her residency at Caesars Palace Las Vegas in late August with a new act.
The interview will air Wednesday on Good Morning America at 7 a.m. ET and Nightline at 12:35 a.m. ET.
