Chelsea boosted in Arda Turan race: Atletico Madrid keen on Juan Cuadrado and Filipe Luis
Chelsea have received a big boost in their chances to win the race over Manchester United and other suitors for Arda Turan after Spanish newspaper AS suggested that Atletico Madrid are interested in getting wantaway duo Juan Cuadrado and Filipe Luis as part of the deal.
Turan has been heavily linked in recent days with the two Premier League giants, as well Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, after his agent, Ahmet Bulut, told AS the Turkish international is likely to put an end to his stay at the Vicente Calderon after four successful seasons in La Liga.
Bulut admitted Turan's first intentions would be to play in the Premier League, while admitting offers from both Milan and PSG.
"He is planning on leaving Spain this summer. He would like to play in the Premier League. This is the path he would like to see his career take. His departure from Atletico won't be easy due to his €41m buyout clause. I'm in discussion with three clubs but I can't reveal their names. They are three of the best clubs in England and indeed in Europe," Bulut said.
AS have since claimed that the Blues are the favourites to secure his services, as the player would rather move to London to reunite with former Atletico Madrid teammates Diego Costa and Thibaut Courtois than join United.
"We want to clarify that at this time there is a lot of pressure on the matter but we do not want to make a formal declaration about his destination before it has been signed. In the next four days Arda will decide the team he will play for next season," Bulut told Turkish TV channel NTVSpor.
And AS now suggest that apart from Turan's preference to play at Chelsea, the Blues remains as "the favourite" to seal the deal as can benefit by Atletico Madrid interest for both Cuadrado and Luis to clinch the deal.
Simeone has openly admitted he is keen on the the Brazilian left-back returning to the Calderon after the Blues signed him last summer.
And AS claimed that the name of Cuadrado has also emerged during the negotiations for Turan as the Argentinian boss would welcome him to replace the Turkish star.
The Spanish publication says that Cuadrado is likely to leave the Blues just six months after his arrival because he has failed to convince Mourinho he deserves a place in his ranks.
A swap deal between the Chelsea duo and Mourinho's target Turan with some cash also involved would be an ideal move for each party.
Nevertheless, AS claims that Simeone is also considering Yevhen Konoplyanka to replace Turan, as he is a free agent after ending his contract at Dnipro.
