Chelsea considering selling Willian in order to fund move for Paris Saint-Germain's Lucas Moura
Moura is unlikely to establish himself in the PSG first-team with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe ahead of him.
Chelsea are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura and are considering selling Willian in order to fund a transfer for the Brazilian, who has fallen out-of-favour at the Parc des Princes.
Lucas has yet to start a league match so far this season and his chances of game-time are slim at best, with summer acquisitions Neymar and Kylian Mbappe predictably ahead of him in Unai Emery's thinking.
The 25-year-old resisted the overtures from a host of clubs to join PSG from Brazilian giants Sao Paolo in the summer of 2012, but his time in the French capital may come to an end soon with the Parisians needing to sell some of their stars in order to comply with Financial Fair Play.
Lucas was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United before joining PSG, but his move to England may still come to pass courtesy of Chelsea, who have begun thinking about making "specific plans" to sign the Brazil international in the January transfer window, according to Le10 Sport.
PSG apparently offered Lucas to Chelsea with a view of doing a deal in January, and Antonio Conte's side are willing to take the Ligue 1 leaders up on their proposition. In order to stay in the black, the Premier League champions will attempt to sell Willian to a team in the Chinese Super League for an exorbitant transfer fee and use the funds to sign Lucas, who will cost around €30m.
Chelsea snatched Willian from Tottenham's grasp in the summer of 2013 but the former Anzhi Makhachkala star winger has fallen below Pedro in the pecking order during Conte's reign. The Brazilian, 29, was used as a rotation option when the Blues won the league last season and has been rather ineffective during the current campaign.
Chelsea have sold a few of their unwanted stars to China in recent years: John Obi Mikel, Ramires and Oscar were all flogged to Chinese Super League clubs for extortionate transfer fees before CSL chiefs tightened up rules over signings from overseas. It remains to be seen how much the new laws inhibit Chelsea's chances of offloading Willian, who has provided just two assists in 15 appearances so far this season.
