Chelsea Keeper Courtois 'Dreams of £41m Summer Move To Barcelona'
Thibaut Courtois' future at Chelsea may have taken a new twist after Spanish press reports that the young goalkeeper wants a summer move to Barcelona.
The Belgium international is currently spending a third successive season on loan at Atletico Madrid since joining the Blues from Genk in 2011.
He is yet to make his debut for Chelsea but with Petr Cech still established as the No.1 at Stamford Bridge he is unlikely to return to London this summer.
Spanish reports claimed earlier last month that Jose Mourinho has urged Courtois to sign a new deal with Chelsea in order to secure his long term future. The reports suggested that, if Courtois signs, Mourinho will let him spend another season at Atletico Madrid.
However, Catalan newspapers Mundo Deportivo and Sport both report that the keeper is likely to stay in La Liga for the long term rather than just one more season on loan, and with Atletico unable to afford his signing he is dreaming about joining Barcelona.
Earlier in April the keeper said that he was going to reveal his future plans imminently. However, according to both Catalan reports, he has delayed his decision due to Barcelona's interest in his services.
It is understood that Barcelona have already signed German keeper Marc Andre Ter-Stegen but with Victor Valdes and his understudy Pinto set to leave the club at the end of the season they are keen on signing another keeper.
Ultimately, Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta and the new manager will made the final decision on signing a second keeper.
According to the Catalan press Courtois' £41m price would not be a problem, as Barcelona believe the 21-year-old could be their number one for a decade or more.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are still confident on reaching a fresh agreement with Chelsea to keep Courtois one more season at the Vicente Calderon, while reports add that he also has an offer from Real Madrid, who see him as Iker Casillas' long-term replacement.
