Chelsea Prepare Transfer Swoop for Liverpool and United Target Alberto Moreno - Report
Chelsea are reportedly preparing a bid in signing Liverpool and Manchester United defender target Alberto Moreno at the end of the season.
The Sevilla left-back has been a transfer target for the Merseyside club and the Old Trafford outfit. In addition to this, nine-time European champions Real Madrid are also in the race to sign the 21-year-old defender.
According to the Express, the Blues are eyeing for a move in landing Moreno as a replacement for Ashley Cole in the squad.
The England international has lost his place in Chelsea's starting lineup this term, having made only 12 league starts.
Jose Mourinho has fielded Cesar Azpilicueta in the left-back position. The Spaniard is a right-back at Stamford Bridge, but the former Real boss has preferred Azpilicueta ahead of Cole this season.
Chelsea have long been interested in signing Southampton star Luke Shaw. However, United are believed to have taken a lead in the race for the signature of the talented English left-back. The Red Devils are on the verge of completing a £30m move for the Saints defender.
With the west London club set to miss out of Shaw, the Portuguese tactician has set his sights on Moreno as a replacement for Cole next season. The report claims the Blues are considering a £12m bid in bringing Sevilla left-back to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.
Moreno has made 26 league appearances for the Spanish side and has managed three goals in the process.
Meanwhile, the defender's agent Javier Moya has dropped a hint that Moreno could leave the La Liga outfit at the end of the season, if the interested clubs are willing to meet his release clause.
"Sevilla are willing to negotiate, but on their conditions. I'm not saying he can only leave there for his £25m release clause fee," Moreno's agent explained in March.
"Yes, Napoli presented an offer in January, but it was not seen as big enough. The interest of Real Madrid? Nothing has been done and my client is concentrating on Sevilla," he added.
