Chelsea Reignite Interest in United and Real Madrid Target with £20m Bid for Toni Kroos
Chelsea have re-entered the race to sign Toni Kroos and are set to hijack the Manchester United target's move from Bayern Munich to Real Madrid by launching a £20m bid of their own, according to the Daily Express.
The German international was linked with a move to Red Devils but Los Blancos looked to have stolen the march on the fallen English champions. Kroos had rejected a contract offer to extend his stay with the Bavarian giants and was reportedly set for a move to the Spanish capital outfit.
It was believed that the midfielder will be signing a five-year deal to make the switch to Santiago Bernabeu after Carlo Ancelotti's side were thought to have agreed a £20m fee with Bayern for the talented midfielder.
Nevertheless, the 24-year-old went on to quash all speculations by stating that no decision regarding his future has been taken at this moment and everything will be considered after the World Cup. And Chelsea are looking to take advantage of this situation by matching the bid submitted by Madrid.
The Express' report suggests that the west London club are ready to offer Kroos a salary of £125,000-a-week and include lucrative bonuses to persuade him to make the switch to Stamford Bridge instead.
The three-time Bundesliga winner wants an improved offer to stay at the Allianz Arena, but and the Bayern's hierarchy are unwilling to bow down to his demands.
It is said that Chelsea and United are willing to wait till next summer to sign Kroos for free. But the Blues are highly keen on splashing the cash to enhance their prospects of winning silverwares next season.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has already acquired the services of former Arsenal star, Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona. If Kroos too joins the Spaniard, then he will be involved in a three-way tussle along with Brazilian star Oscar for a place in the starting lineup.
However, we will have to wait for a few more weeks to find out where the German star will be plying his trade next season.
