Chelsea unwilling to match Alvaro Morata's wage demands amid Arsenal transfer talk
Chelsea are reportedly unwilling to match Alvaro Morata's wage demands. The Spanish striker has been linked with a big-money move to Stamford Bridge, but the west London club are said to have baulked at his demands of £115,000 ($163,898) a week to join.
The 23-year-old forward is reportedly attracting interest from a host of clubs across the continent, including Manchester United and Arsenal. His former side Real Madrid are expected to trigger a buy-back clause worth £23m and then sell him for around £40m at some stage this summer.
Chelsea are eager to recruit the skillful forward but are not willing to pay him more than £91,000 a week, according to the Evening Standard. Morata, meanwhile, is currently playing for Spain at Euro 2016 in France and has delayed any decision about his future until after the tournament.
Chelsea have the added advantage of having recently appointed Antonio Conte, who convinced him to join Juventus from Real Madrid in 2014. But Chelsea are likely to face stiff competition from the likes of Arsenal and United to secure his signature.
