China Launches High-Resolution Satellite
China's first satellite to conduct high resolution earth observation launched on Friday (April 26) from the north-western China's Gansu province, state media reported.
The satellite was launched on a Long March-2D carrier rocket at 1213pm (0413 GMT) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, which marked the 175th launch in China's Long March series of rockets, state television CCTV reported.
Three microsatellites, developed by Turkey, Argentina and Ecuador were also aboard the rocket, CCTV said.
Experts said that China is still at the very beginning stage of researching and applying such technology despite the massive potential market for the high-resolution earth observation system, according to a CCTV report.
