China: Small village in Chongqing has a total of 39 sets of twins
Medical experts not sure why the village has recorded such a high twins' birth rate.
A small village in southwest China with only 367 households, has a very high number of twins. Medical experts are unsure for the reason for the high twins' birth rate.
The Qingyan village in the Jiangyin district of Chongqing has a total of 39 pairs of twins. The youngest is only nine months old while the oldest pair is 89 years old.
An increasing number of twins have been born in China over the past decade mainly due to the more women having access to fertility drugs and treatments, China News Service reported. However, this does not explain the high number of twins being born in the Qingyan village.
According to the news service, having twins is considered auspicious. Others believe that it is easier to have two babies at the same time.
