Christian Eriksen focused on flourishing at Tottenham despite Barcelona interest
Eriksen is a vital figure for Pochettino's men.
Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen only wants to be 'important' for Mauricio Pochettino's men and is not paying attention to rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona.
The Danish international has been excellent for Spurs in recent months and has either scored or assisted six goals in his last six games. His form has led to him being tenuously linked with a move to the Camp Nou.
Eriksen signed a new deal with Tottenham earlier this season and after a rocky start to the campaign has proven himself to be one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League – so much so that Barcelona legend Frank de Boer saw fit to tout him for a move to the Blaugrana.
But despite the undoubted appeal of Barcelona, Eriksen's agent Martin Schoots says his client is not paying attention to rumours surrounding his future and is instead focusing on continuing to thrive for Tottenham.
"I prefer not to comment on what the newspapers write about the future," the Tottenham star's agent was quoted as saying by Football.London. "The only thing Christian wants to do is focus on playing his matches.
"We let the rumours be rumoured, even now, when Christian's merits as a player who sets up a goal, are better than anyone else, and now he scores also very important goals. Christian just wants to be important for the team, it is the only thing that matters to him."
A move to Barcelona is far from nailed on the summer for Eriksen, whose immediate focus is on Tottenham's ailing challenge for the Premier League title. Pochettino's side are four points behind leaders Chelsea with four games to go and will be doing all they possibly can to close that gap when they travel to the London Stadium to face bitter rivals West Ham United on Friday evening (5 May).
