Wine for cats – Pinot Meow and MosCATo non-alcoholic catnip served up by Apollo Peak
How many times have you cracked open a bottle of red, sat down to enjoy it, only for the experience to be sullied by the mournful gaze of your cat as it makes do with a paltry bowl of water.
Thanks to the wonderful team at Apollo Peak you and your feline friend can now both sip on a glass of wine. The non-alcoholic drink is made with organic catnip and water with the colour coming from organic beetroot juice (the "white" varieties are coloured with golden beetroots).
"It's made like a tea," Apollo Peak founder Brandon Zavala told The Huffington Post. "But since we got it to look so much like a wine, we want it to be perceived as a wine by the consumer — that way they can feel as though they are having a glass of wine with their pet."
What started out as a joke has turned into a fully marketable product and cats can enjoy a refreshing MosCATo or Pinot Meow that they can pair with whichever meat or fish dish they are eating of course.
As with any good red, the Apollo makers recommend serving the Pinot Meow at room temperature "as cats tend to not like cold beverages".
All of the ingredients in the 'wine' have been listed as safe for animal consumption, however if you are wondering whether you can pick up a bottle for your cat it is still advisable to check with your vet if you have any concerns.
Unfortunately UK cats will have to remain teetotal for a little longer as the US brand do not ship internationally, but we shall eagerly await the day when our kitties can enjoy a glass of red with us.
