Corinna Schumacher put on a brave face as she made her first public appearance since husband Michael suffered horrendous injuries.

The wife of the seven-time Formula One world champion was picture laughing and smiling as she enjoyed a horse riding event in her native Switzerland, last weekend.

Michael Schumacher has recently been relocated to a hospital in the country to rehabilitate from his devastating head injuries.

At the Reining Reiter Turnier European Championship, Corinna handed out chocolates and appeared to enjoy being with friends.

It was the first time Corinna has been seen away from the hospital where her husband has been treated for more than six months, following a life-threatening ski crash in the French Alps.

Schumacher's wife was warned recently that she risked illness herself by sustaining round-the-clock vigils at his bedside and from the stress of the situation.

Also in attendance at the Givrins ranch in Switzerland was family spokeswoman, Sabine Kehm.
