Cottage Delight Ltd recalls Staffordshire Brewery beer over fear of 'shattering' bottles
Cottage Delight Ltd has recalled its Staffordshire Brewery beers as the "bottles containing these products might shatter". The company issued its first recall on Tuesday (13 October), which included the recall of 1,000ml bottles of the Staffordshire Brewery Cheddleton Golden Ale saying "there may be a fault with the glass".
At the time, Cottage Delight notified customers that is was only recalling Batch Number 120 of the ale and only those that were marked "best before July 2016". However, three days later (16 October) the Food Standards Agency issued a warning that the recall had been extended to include further batches and "best before" dates, as well as two additional products.
All batches and all date codes of the 1,000ml Staffordshire Brewery Cheddleton Golden Ale, the Cheddleton Christmas Ale, and the Golden Farmhouse Cider have now been recalled. The company is said to be contacting all retail customers to ask them to display a point-of-sale notice.
The FSA has confirmed a "recall" to encourage all customers to not only refrain from buying the product, but also to return the product if they have already bought it. Cottage Delight has asked customers to call on 01538 398839 to return the product and arrange for a refund.
