Coventry: Two teens arrested on suspicion of travelling to Syria to commit terrorism offences
Two teenagers from Coventry have been arrested on suspicion of preparing to travel to Syria to engage in terrorism.
The pair, both aged 17, were detained by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit at their home addresses at approximately 6am this morning (April 21).
They are currently in custody in the West Midlands. The arrests were pre-planned and there was no immediate risk to the public.
A police spokesman said: "The suspects have been detained under PACE legislation, giving officers a maximum of 36 hours before charging, releasing, bailing or applying to a court for a warrant of further detention."
